The first time you buy or sell on the AgroYield Marketplace you’ll see a one-time Marketplace Agreement dialog. This article explains what’s in it, why we ask, and how to access it later.
When you see the agreement
The agreement appears the first time you initiate a value exchange — today that means clicking Buy now on a Marketplace listing. We don’t ask before browsing, saving listings, or messaging sellers. We only ask when actual money is about to move.
After you accept, you won’t see the dialog again unless we publish a new version with material changes (a price-of-platform change, a refund-policy update, or any other change to the terms you originally accepted). When that happens, you’ll re-acknowledge before your next purchase.
What’s in the agreement
The current Marketplace Agreement covers seven sections:
- Escrow and payment flow — we hold buyer payments via Monnify until you confirm delivery or seven days elapse, whichever is sooner.
- Platform commission — the current commission rate is shown transparently on every listing’s checkout, and is deducted from the seller’s payout (not added to the buyer’s total).
- Refunds and disputes — how disputes work, the timeline, and the path of escalation.
- Listing accuracy — sellers warrant the listing details (price, quantity, condition, location) are accurate at time of posting.
- Lawful use — the platform isn’t for restricted goods or services.
- Liability — we mediate disputes but we’re not a party to the underlying sale.
- Version changes — how we notify you when terms change.
You can read the full text of the current version any time at agroyield.africa/legal/marketplace.
Where your acceptance lives
When you click Accept and continue in the dialog, three things happen:
- The acceptance is recorded in our database with a timestamp, the agreement version you accepted, your IP address, and your browser user-agent — so we can prove you accepted version X on date Y if a dispute ever arises.
- We send you an email with the full agreement body inline, so you have a searchable copy in your inbox.
- We send you a direct message in your AgroYield inbox confirming the acceptance, with a link to read the agreement again.
If the email or DM doesn’t land for any reason (Resend down, delivery failure, etc.), the acceptance is still recorded — the email and DM are convenience copies, not the source of truth.
What if I don’t accept?
You can dismiss the dialog and continue browsing the Marketplace. You won’t be able to complete a purchase until you’ve accepted, and you’ll see the dialog again the next time you click Buy now. There’s no penalty for taking time to read the terms before accepting.
Other value-exchange agreements
The Marketplace Agreement is the first of several value-exchange agreements we’ll roll out as new modules ship:
- Mentorship agreement — for paid mentorship sessions (rolling out alongside the mentorship monetisation milestone).
- Rentals agreement — for the equipment rental marketplace.
- Grants agreement — for grant disbursements that flow through AgroYield.
Each is scoped narrowly to its module and only fires when you initiate a transaction in that module — we don’t ask you to accept terms you don’t need.
Need a copy of your acceptance?
Email support@agroyield.africa with the subject line “Agreement acceptance copy”. We’ll reply with the version you accepted, the timestamp, and the full agreement body.
