AgroYield Network treats organisations as first-class entities. A cooperative, association, NGO, government agency, university, or agri-company is its own object on the platform — separate from any single user account. People can be members of an organisation, and content (opportunities, grants, research, marketplace listings, community posts) can be attributed either to a person or to the organisation they're posting for.
This article covers what changed, how to use it, and what admins need to know.
What is an organisation?
An organisation is a record in our system that represents a cooperative, association, NGO, government agency, university, or agri-company on AgroYield. It has its own name, slug, logo, type, and verification status. People are added as members (admin or contributor), and posting context determines whether a post shows under their personal name or under the organisation's name.
You don't sign up as an organisation. You sign up as yourself. If you want to represent an organisation on AgroYield, you do it through the institutional registration flow, which is separate from the regular signup.
Signing up
The signup form at /signup is for individual accounts only. You enter your name, email, and password and that's it. Anyone can sign up — agronomists, researchers, traders, students, hobbyists, founders.
If you're signing up because you want to represent an organisation, sign up as yourself first. After your personal account exists, head to /pricing/institutional to register the organisation and request your seats.
Registering an organisation
Visit /pricing/institutional to see the institutional plans (Cooperative, Association, Government Agency, NGO, University, Agri-Company) and submit a sales lead. Our team reviews each request, sets up the organisation record with the agreed seat limit and contract terms, and sends invitations to the admin user.
Pricing is negotiated per organisation. We don't run institutional plans through self-serve checkout — these are invoice-based contracts. The lead form captures what we need to scope the deal.
Switching posting context
Once you're a member of an organisation, you'll see an OrgSwitcher above each post-creation form (opportunities, grants, marketplace, research, community). Two options:
- Post as yourself — your name and avatar appear on the post.
- Post as [Organisation Name] — the organisation's name and logo appear on the post, with a small chip showing it was posted on behalf of the org.
The switch is sticky per session. Posting context resets to "yourself" when you sign in fresh, so you make a deliberate choice every time you open a posting form.
Posts attributed to an organisation show the org chip on the listing card and on the post detail page. If the organisation is verified, a green checkmark appears next to the chip.
Verification
Organisations register through the institutional flow and are verified by AgroYield admins after document review. Until verification completes, members of the organisation can browse and read everything but cannot post on behalf of the organisation. Posting as yourself is unaffected — you can keep using the platform normally while the org's verification is processed.
If you try to post on behalf of an unverified organisation, you'll see a yellow "Pending Verification" banner. We email the admin user the moment verification completes.
What changed for legacy institution accounts
Before May 2026, AgroYield had a separate "Institution" branch on the signup form. People who registered an institution that way got their data backfilled into the new organisations system automatically. Their personal account is still theirs; the organisation record was created from the institution fields they originally entered, and their verification status was carried over. No action is needed — everything just works.
For admins
Organisation moderation lives at /admin/institutions. From there you can review pending verifications, approve or reject requests, edit contract terms, manage seats, and archive organisations no longer using the platform. The legacy "Institutions" sub-tab inside Members has been removed; everything routes through /admin/institutions now.
