This code applies to everyone using the Mentorship module — mentors and mentees alike. Violations can result in suspension from the module, account-wide suspension, or in severe cases, permanent removal.
What we expect from mentors
- Show up. If you accept a session, attend it. If something genuinely urgent comes up, cancel with reasonable notice (24h+ if possible, message in chat if it's last-minute) — don't just no-show.
- Stay in scope. A mentorship session is for the topic the mentee requested. If they need something outside your expertise, point them to a different mentor or say so explicitly. Don't fake competence.
- No solicitation. Don't use mentorship sessions to pitch your products, recruit for your business, or promote external paid services. The session is for the mentee's growth, not your sales pipeline.
- Confidentiality. Anything a mentee shares in a session — financials, business problems, personal context — stays between you. Don't repeat it elsewhere, even anonymised, unless you have explicit permission.
- Professional boundaries. Mentorship is a professional relationship, not a friendship and definitely not romantic. If a session starts moving in an inappropriate direction, end it.
What we expect from mentees
- Show up too. Mentor time is valuable. No-shows count against your record and we may limit your booking ability after multiple instances.
- Come prepared. State your topic clearly when requesting. Bring specific questions to the session — don't expect the mentor to figure out what you need.
- Treat the mentor with respect. Disagreement is fine; aggression, harassment, or repeated demands for free work outside the session are not.
- Honour confidentiality both ways. If a mentor shares something off-the-record (e.g., "this didn't work for me, here's what I learnt"), don't broadcast it.
What counts as a violation
In rough order of severity:
- Minor — late cancellations, mild rudeness, off-topic conversation. Usually resolved with a private nudge from us.
- Moderate — repeated no-shows, sales pitches in session, breach of confidentiality, ignoring agreed-upon scope. Can lead to suspension from the Mentorship module for 30+ days.
- Severe — harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, financial fraud (e.g., promising deliverables in exchange for off-platform payment then ghosting). Immediate suspension and permanent removal from the module. Account-wide suspension is on the table for the most serious cases.
How to report
Two paths:
- Inside the session card — click Report this session on the session you're concerned about. Tell us what happened in your own words.
- By email — support@agroyield.africa, subject line "Mentorship report". Useful if you'd rather report after the fact and not from the session UI.
We treat reports confidentially. The other party will know a report exists (we can't investigate fairly otherwise) but won't see your name unless you choose to disclose it.
How we investigate
A senior moderator reviews the report, checks the session record (start/end times via Zoom, message logs if any, prior reports against either party), reaches out to both sides for context, and decides on action within 5 working days for moderate-to-severe reports.
You always have the right to appeal a moderation decision. Email appeals@agroyield.africa within 30 days.
