When you sign up for AgroYield Network — whether by email + password or via Google, LinkedIn, or Facebook — you'll see two checkboxes near the bottom of the form:
- I agree to the Terms of Service
- I agree to the Privacy Policy
Both are unticked by default. You have to actively tick both before any signup method becomes available. We never pre-tick them — that's not how consent works under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we capture at signup
When you tick both boxes and submit the form, we record:
- The exact version of the terms and privacy policy you consented to (we version these so historical consent stays meaningful even when we update the documents).
- The date and time of consent.
- The browser and device the consent came from (so we can verify in case of a dispute).
For OAuth signups (Google / LinkedIn / Facebook), we set a small temporary cookie when you click the OAuth button so your consent travels with you through the OAuth round-trip. The cookie is encrypted, expires in 10 minutes, and is cleared the moment you land back on AgroYield.
What changes if we update the terms
If we materially update the terms or privacy policy, we'll bump the version stored on your profile and email you. You can re-consent on /account/security at any time. We won't take any action that requires your consent (like auto-renewing a subscription) without an active consent record matching the current version.
Your rights
Under NDPA, you have the right to:
- Access your data — export everything we hold about you from
/account/data-export(Pro+) or by emailingsupport@agroyield.africa. - Correct inaccurate data — most fields are editable from
/accountdirectly. - Delete your account and all associated data — request via
support@agroyield.africa. We'll process within 30 days. - Object to specific processing — write to us and we'll work with you on the specifics.
- Withdraw consent at any time — note that some features (e.g. auto-renewal of subscriptions) require active consent and will pause without it.
For the full text of our terms and privacy policy, the source documents at /terms and /privacy are the canonical reference. This article is a plain-English summary, not a substitute.
